Your spot, your eyes. How SmartSpot™ puts a camera on your own stall

Most yards point a handful of cameras at the gate and the drive aisles. SmartSpot™ adds one camera pointed at a single stall, yours, and puts the feed on your phone. Here is what that camera does, what it leaves to the rest of the yard, and who it is worth the extra for.

The feature

What is SmartSpot™?

SmartSpot™ is an 80-foot stall at LockRig Storage & Parking in Brookshire with its own camera. The yard's general cameras cover the property as a whole. The SmartSpot™ camera covers one space, and the person renting that space can see it.

  • A dedicated cameraOne camera on your stall. The view is your truck and trailer and the ground around them, framed for that space alone.
  • Live view from your phoneOpen the feed from wherever you are. A load three states away, the kitchen table, or the cab of another truck.
  • Two-way audioYou can hear what is happening at the stall and speak through the camera to anyone standing there.
  • AI-assisted detectionThe camera is set up to pick out people and vehicles, as distinct from other movement in the frame such as shadows or rain.
  • Adjustable motion zonesYou set the part of the picture that counts. Draw the zone around your stall, and traffic passing in the drive aisle can be left out of it.
  • Call for the rateCall 1-844-LOCK-RIG for the SmartSpot rate on the 80-foot SmartSpot™ stall, month to month with no contract. A standard 80-foot stall without the camera is $129.99.

In practice

What can you actually do from your phone?

The camera is useful in three situations. Each one is about knowing what is happening at your stall without driving back to look.

  • Check the rigIs the trailer still where you dropped it? Are the doors shut? Is anyone near the fuel tanks? A live view answers in the time it takes to open the app, at any hour.
  • Speak to someone at the stallIf a person is at your truck and you don't know them, you can ask who they are through the camera. They hear you, and they know the stall is watched by the person who rents it. The conversation is on camera too.
  • Find a truck in your stallA reserved stall is only reserved if it stays empty for you. If another vehicle pulls into your space, you can see it before you arrive, instead of finding out at midnight with nowhere to go.

In each case the next step is the same. Call the office on 1-844-LOCK-RIG. Office hours are Monday to Friday 6am to 10pm and weekends 6am to 8pm, and the manager lives on the property outside those hours. What the resident manager does at 2 a.m. is covered in its own post.

The limits

What does a camera not do?

A camera records, and it lets you see and speak. It does not lock anything, and it cannot physically stop a person who has decided to act.

At LockRig the SmartSpot™ camera sits on top of the security the whole yard already has. The gate is open 24/7 but opens only by app or by an individual keypad code, so every entry belongs to a named customer. The yard is fenced, lit with LED lighting end to end and covered by security cameras. There is a backup generator on site for outages. Every stall can be seen from the drive aisle, and the no-exit loop layout means a vehicle can only leave through the gate. A resident manager lives on the property.

Those layers keep people out and make it hard to leave with something that isn't theirs. The SmartSpot™ camera adds the one thing they don't give you, which is your own view of your own truck. The security page lists the layers in full, and what secure parking actually means sets out how to check any yard against them.

Why it matters

How big is the theft problem?

Cargo theft rose sharply in 2025. These are CargoNet's figures for the United States and Canada:

3,594supply chain crime events recorded in 2025Verisk CargoNet, 2025 theft trends
$725Mestimated losses in 2025, up 60% from 2024Verisk CargoNet
$273,990average value per theft, up 36% from $202,364 in 2024Verisk CargoNet

Most drivers will never see a full-load theft. The smaller losses are more common: fuel, batteries, tools, a trailer that was tampered with. For those, footage of your own stall is often the only record of when it happened and who was there. What unsafe parking costs itemizes the bills that follow when it goes wrong.

Who it suits

Is SmartSpot™ worth the extra?

A SmartSpot™ stall costs more than a standard 80-foot stall; call 1-844-LOCK-RIG for the SmartSpot rate. Whether that is worth paying depends on how often you are away from the truck and how much you want to see for yourself.

  • Owner-operatorsIf the truck is your business and you are home for days at a time, or out in another vehicle, the camera lets you check it whenever you want without asking anyone.
  • Fleet managersIf you park several units, a camera on a stall lets you confirm a truck or trailer is in place without a drive to the yard. Fleet parking covers accounts for more than one unit.
  • Drivers with a dropped trailerA trailer left for days is the unit you see least. A live view means you can look at it between loads.
  • Who can skip itIf you are at the yard most nights, or you are comfortable relying on the gate, lighting, general cameras and resident manager, a standard stall carries the same yard security for less.

All stall sizes and rates are on the rate card. The yard is at 3485 FM 362, Brookshire, about five minutes from I-10 exit 732 and 12 minutes west of Katy. A free 30-minute site tour is available if you call ahead.
